Equipped with natural refrigerants logo

Did you know Christ freeze dryers use Natural refrigerants?

Martin Christ is a world leader in the development and manufacturing of freeze dryers, with over 75 years of experience. They have been pioneering the integration of natural refrigerants into their systems since 2009 which ensures their systems are future proof to the refrigerant gas regulations. The laboratory units are equipped with natural, flammable refrigerants as standard, while the pilot and production systems can be flexibly configured with a variety of refrigerant systems. Christ always use the latest refrigeration technologies to ensure their systems are state of the art.

Which natural refrigerant gases do Christ use?

Christ offers a range of refrigerant solutions tailored to specific requirements:

  • Flammable Refrigerants (A3): With a Global Warming Potential (GWP) index of 2–6, these refrigerants can achieve temperatures as low as –105°C, making them suitable for the laboratory and pilot freeze dryer range (up to 10kg capacity).
  • Liquid Nitrogen (LN₂): Offering a GWP of 0, LN₂ systems achieve temperatures up to –100°C.
  • Combination LN₂/CO₂: This hybrid system provides shelf temperatures down to –65°C and ice condenser temperatures as low as –100°C.
  • Air Refrigeration Systems: A GWP of 0, these systems reach temperatures up to –100°C, offering an energy-efficient solution for various applications.
  • Combination Air/CO₂: A GWP of 0-1, this combination achieves shelf temperatures down to –65°C and ice condenser temperatures up to –100°C.
